Informed consent research
Thank you for taking the time to help me with my research and improving the care for people with tailbone problems!
You can download the permission form at the button below. When filled out, you can sign it digitally if you have that option, or make a picture of the printed form and mail it to me at roel@roelwilbers.nl.
Below you will find additional information about what will be researched and how it works.
The research
There is little known about tailbone pain and there isn’t a lot of scientific research done in this area because the priority is often elsewhere. Therefore the knowledge and help for the people with these problems is often limited, despite that they often experience a lot of pain and limitations.
Over the past years I’ve gained new insights about the treatment of tailbone pain in the many sessions with patients dealing with these problems and this has led to a specific way of treatment. I would like to make this knowledge accessible for the rest of the (para)medic world so that as many people as possible can be helped by it. Therefore scientific research is needed and that starts with the gathering of data.

Because you consulted me for tailbone problems, I would like to ask your help in my project by giving me permission to use the information of your treatment trajectory for the research I am currently involved in and will be in the future. In March 2025 the project with the departement Healthsciences at the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam had it’s take off.
Below I will explain further how this works, how if affects you and which data I am looking for. If there are any questions or unclarity about this, I am at all times willing to clarify this.
Gathering, storing and using the data
The gathered data will be stored safely for the time I do research of tailbone problems and will only be seen by the people that are involved in the research. This will, next to myself, possibly be colleague (physio)therapists or researchers connected to institutions. Your data will be used anonymously for the research, which means that it will be separated from your name and other personal information.
The research findings that will be published, will solely be about the data of the collective of researched individuals. Anything that will go external or be published, won’t be traceable back to you. When an individual case is useful to be addressed, there will always be a separate request for permission to do that. With the signing of this form you will be asked to leave your name and email address and this is also so that other researchers have the possibility to check if the research is performed correctly.
Aim of the research data
The aim of the data collection and the gained knowledge about the appearance of tailbone problems and the effects of the treatment of it, is:
- to share this through my website with the people that want to know more about tailbone pain (mainly visited by patients with these problems of colleague therapists)
- to use them for educational purposes like the trainings I give to colleagues so they can also treat patients with tailbone problems
- to process them to scientific articles to be published in professional magazines
If there are any questions, please let me know. Thanks again.
